Job Title: Nurse Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
The Nurse Paralegal at the law firm is tasked with a variety of responsibilities that are crucial in assisting attorneys in defending lawsuits, particularly those involving medical and dental malpractice and long-term care defense. Key responsibilities include:
- Analyzing medical records to extract pertinent information.
- Drafting chronologies, timelines, or other summaries of documentation found in medical records.
- Identifying applicable standards of care in cases related to long-term care and medical malpractice.
- Evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of a case.
- Assessing issues related to causation and damages.
- Educating attorneys and clients about relevant medical issues that could impact the case.
- Participating in case management and strategy discussions to formulate effective defense strategies.
- Assisting with the preparation for and providing support during depositions, trials, or alternative dispute resolution processes.
Education and Experience:
Candidates interested in the Nurse Paralegal position should have a strong background in a medical setting, particularly in long-term care or hospital environments. Additionally, the role requires:
- Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with attorneys, clients, and other stakeholders.
- An active license as a Registered Nurse (RN) to ensure a comprehensive understanding of medical issues and standards of care.
Salary Information:
The position offers an hourly wage ranging from $36 to $38. It is a part-time role, requiring 30 hours of work per week.
