Sr. Media Relations Manager

Job Title: Sr. Media Relations Manager

Job Responsibilities:

The Sr. Media Relations Manager is tasked with the strategic development and execution of media relations strategies aimed at enhancing and protecting the reputation of the law firm as a leading Am Law 100 law firm. Key responsibilities include:

- Collaborating closely with firm leadership, the Chief Marketing and Client Development Officer (CMCDO), Director of Communications, and members of the department to manage the positioning and messaging of the firm both internally and externally.
- Developing and executing strategies to elevate the visibility and reputation of the firm and its lawyers on a global scale in strategic verticals.
- Serving as a media and message advisor to all relevant stakeholders within the firm.
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with reporters and other media contacts to boost the firm’s visibility.
- Identifying, training, and preparing lawyers for media interactions.
- Periodically interviewing attorneys, developing content ideas related to their expertise, and writing articles under the attorneys' names for publication in business, trade, and legal media outlets.
- Coordinating with the CMCDO, DOC, and fellow Senior Media Relations Manager to work with the firm’s outside public relations agency, developing and refining messaging, and optimizing the agency's effectiveness by appropriately delegating and managing their work.
- Collaborating with the Social Media Specialist to develop online and social media strategies that particularly support media relations campaigns in strategic areas.
- Consistently refining communications strategies to align with best practices and achieve the greatest return on investment for the firm.
- Working with members of the Marketing and Client Development Department to develop content and implement communications through various channels, including digital and social media, the website, and placed and purchased media and public relations.

Education and Experience Information:

- A four-year college degree is required, preferably in marketing, communications, or journalism.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in public relations with a strong emphasis on writing and editing is required.
- Experience in a law firm or professional services firm is necessary.
- Proficiency in PR/Media tools such as Meltwater News.
- Strong supervisory/management skills are required.
- Ability to work comfortably with attorneys at all levels and make sound decisions while handling confidential and sensitive information.
- Demonstrated strategic focus with the ability to define goals and follow through to achieve results.
- Excellent organizational and highly effective communication skills, both oral and written, are essential.
- Exceptional client service skills, both internal and external, are required.
