Summary:
S&P Global is seeking a motivated and experienced attorney for the position of Assistant General Counsel in Employment Law. This role requires a strong understanding of US labor and employment laws, as well as the ability to provide strategic legal counsel and risk management advice to the company's management and People teams. The successful candidate will also be responsible for managing and executing on a broad range of employment and labor matters. This position reports to the Associate General Counsel for Labor & Employment.
In this role, the Assistant General Counsel will serve as the subject matter expert in all areas of US labor and employment laws, ensuring compliance with applicable employment practices laws, rules, and regulations. They will also be responsible for drafting employment related contracts and providing legal counsel on a variety of HR and employment matters such as recruiting, compensation, performance management, and workplace privacy. The Assistant General Counsel will also represent and defend the company in employment disputes and manage outside counsel as needed.
The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of relevant experience from a law firm or in-house at a publicly-traded company. A JD or LLM from an accredited law school and active bar membership in the United States is required. They must also possess excellent business judgment, legal issue identification, and problem-solving skills. A positive and collaborative attitude is a must, along with significant advisory experience and exceptional academic credentials.
S&P Global offers a competitive base salary range of $91,805 to $150,000 for this position, along with additional benefits such as an annual incentive plan and eligibility for company benefits.
