Job Title: Matter Mobility Data Technician
Job Responsibilities:
As a member of the Information Governance Department at the law firm, the Matter Mobility Data Technician is tasked with coordinating all technical aspects of mobilizing client records into and out of the firm. This role involves close collaboration with practice groups, administrative departments, the General Counsel, Office Administrators, and other relevant staff to ensure compliance with the firm's information governance processes and procedures. The essential functions of this position include:
- Demonstrating an expert understanding of electronic client data, which is applied to the collection, analysis/review, secure transport, and documentation of such data.
- Working with newly integrated attorneys and in coordination with the IT department at the prior firm to retrieve matter data.
- Communicating with Attorneys, Client Service Specialists, and other Business Professionals as new data comes in and tracking data that is received.
- Advising attorneys to open matters as new data is received and helping them provide a cross-reference of old to new matters.
- Providing timely reports by writing queries and joining tables in SQL. Designing SQL scripts that can be easily manipulated to efficiently address similar future analyses.
- Following established procedures to protect the integrity and authenticity of records.
- Maintaining an in-depth understanding of industry trends and evolving technology.
Additional functions of the position may include other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Information:
Education requirements for this position include an associate degree or certification with a focus in computer science/scripting/software, which is required. A bachelor’s degree is preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience requirements include a minimum of 5 years of prior experience in data migration, which is required. A minimum of 3 years of matter mobility is preferred. The candidate should have prior experience with PL/SQL & SQL Plus background.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
The Matter Mobility Data Technician must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Knowledgeable in SQL and document management systems, preferably iManage.
- The ability to write queries and join tables for reports.
- Ability to recognize data in load files and translate prior to import into iManage.
- Capable of combining multiple sources and manipulating data.
- Proficient in Excel.
- Ability to handle voluminous projects, meet deadlines, and complete tasks accurately, with agility in handling shifting priorities and effective teamwork skills.
- Detail orientation, accuracy, adaptability, outstanding client service, and the ability to analyze for best solutions.
