Job Title: Paralegal Energy & Ratepayer Advocacy Division

Job Responsibilities:
A Paralegal in the Energy & Ratepayer Advocacy Division of the Energy & Environment Bureau is responsible for providing administrative and paralegal support to the division's legal and technical staff. This role involves various tasks necessary for the litigation process before several regulatory and judicial bodies, including the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities, Massachusetts Department of Telecommunications and Cable, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Key responsibilities include:

- Reviewing and organizing paper and electronic documents and case files.
- Preparing and filing legal documents with courts and administrative regulatory bodies according to established procedures, ensuring the final documents are free from errors and omissions.
- Tracking and organizing discovery responses and preparing case documents for hearings, such as trial exhibits and notebooks.
- Providing support to attorneys during evidentiary hearings and maintaining case files in the case management system.
- Storing electronic case documents for easy access and retrieval.
- Conducting legal and factual research and writing, including cite checking briefs and other filings.
- Tracking and reporting internally on active cases and systematically storing and archiving inactive and closed case files.
- Providing general office assistance, assisting with special projects, and performing other duties as required.

Education and Experience Information:
The position requires a Bachelor's Degree, with paralegal or legal assistant experience preferred. Candidates should possess:

- An in-depth understanding of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, SharePoint, and Summation is preferred.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to analyze and organize documents with attention to detail.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience or interest in law, energy, and/or working in the public interest is also considered a plus.

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a connection to the people and communities served by the organization and an interest in supporting a respectful and inclusive work environment.

Salary Information:
The position offers a salary of $53,762 annually.

Additional Information:
The position is full-time and exempt, with a hybrid work model that includes some remote workdays. On in-office days, employees are required to report to one of the designated office locations, either in Boston or at a regional office.
