Job Title: Toxic Tort Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
The Toxic Tort Paralegal position at the law firm involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at supporting the litigation process in toxic tort cases. The key responsibilities include:
- Preparing records, reviewing and preparing exhibits, analyzing medical records, and preparing for trial.
- Contacting external sources, such as government agencies, to obtain and review public information.
- Searching and retrieving information from court-related databases and other online sources related to cases.
- Preparing summaries of pertinent transcripts and assembling chronologies of important facts and key documents.
- Reviewing, analyzing, and organizing document productions by opposing parties and co-defendants.
- Determining, preparing, and organizing materials needed for expert witness reviews.
- Conducting investigative research on opposing parties and expert witnesses.
- Managing documents and organizing case files.
- Monitoring and reviewing third-party eFile/eService databases.
- Performing other responsibilities as requested.
Education and Experience Information:
The candidate for the Toxic Tort Paralegal position should meet the following educational and experience requirements:
- Must have a bachelor's degree.
- A Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-accredited Paralegal program/course is preferred.
- Should possess 2+ years of experience in toxic tort litigation, including cases involving asbestos, talc, benzene, mold, or similar substances.
- Experience preparing pleadings and discovery requests/responses, summarizing medical, employment, and military records, and supporting trial preparation.
- Trial preparation experience is considered a plus.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is required.
- Experience with iManage is a plus.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are critical.
- Must have clear and effective communication skills both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and be proactive.
- Experience with e-discovery and using Relativity or other document review platforms is considered a plus.
Salary Information:
The compensation for the Toxic Tort Paralegal position at the law firm is determined by various factors, including experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands, and other business and organizational needs permitted by law. The position is eligible for discretionary bonuses, and the final salary offered may be outside the stated range based on individual circumstances. The pay range for this position is between $80,000 and $110,000 USD. As a full-time position, it qualifies for benefits, including a 401(k) retirement savings plan, medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
