Marketing & Business Development Manager - Energy & Natural Resources
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Marketing & Business Development Manager for the Energy & Natural Resources sector at the law firm is responsible for various strategic and operational tasks aimed at enhancing the firm's market presence and client relationships within the energy sector. Key responsibilities include:
Marketing Campaigns & Profile Raising:
- Collaborate with Energy Sector Heads and Sector Team Leads to develop and implement goals, initiatives, and strategies for growth efforts targeting key clients.
- Manage working group operations for Energy Transition and broader Energy Sector teams such as Power and Renewables, Oil and Gas, and Nuclear.
- Contribute to integrated campaigns and thought leadership efforts to raise internal and external profiles, including with existing and potential clients.
- Drive regional and global initiatives to enhance the profile and awareness of the Energy Transition team.
- Assist with the creation and dissemination of thought leadership and other publications.
- Handle directory and award submissions.
- Stay informed on industry, legal, and business trends to identify promotional opportunities.
- Support the implementation of business plans for the Energy Sector.
Pitches & Business Development:
- Develop solutions and tools to advance Energy Transition efforts globally.
- Manage and support responses to RFPs and strategic pitch opportunities within the sector.
- Evaluate sector strengths and conduct research on clients, competitors, and market trends to aid in the development of marketing plans, pitches, presentations, and proposals.
- Liaise with the global Pitches & Pursuits team for input on industry sector, practice, or firmwide pitches.
- Create and maintain marketing materials, including credentials documents and experience lists.
- Support other strategic business development and promotional initiatives as needed.
Client Relationship Management:
- Act as a client relationship manager for key clients in the energy industry.
- Work with the Client Development team to ensure best practices in client relationship management across the industry sector.
- Identify cross-selling opportunities within existing sector group, practice group, and firm clients, collaborating with the business development team and attorneys to expand client relationships.
- Conduct and document client feedback interviews as part of the firm’s Client Listening program.
- Encourage the effective use of the firm’s CRM database.
Events:
- Identify and coordinate practice group, industry, and other firm events to support client and business development objectives.
- Plan and manage marketing communications programs and events, including flagship events across the energy sector and energy transition market, as well as smaller seminars and receptions.
- Work with Sector Group and Sector Team leaders to plan internal sector meetings and retreats.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE INFORMATION
- A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience is preferred, ideally within the legal or similar professional services industry.
- A working knowledge of the energy industry and energy transition market is desirable.
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in marketing, communications, or a related field is preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Demonstrated success in marketing and business development best practices.
- Experience in developing and supporting client development and new business programs.
- Strategic vision with attention to detail and initiative.
- Strong critical thinking skills and ability to devise data-driven strategies.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with InDesign, iPublish, and InterAction (or other CRM systems) is desirable.
- Excellent writing and presentation skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Experience in project and team management.
SALARY INFORMATION
This position offers a competitive salary range, which varies by location. In Washington, DC, the annualized salary range is $150,000 to $188,000. In New York, the range is $160,000 to $203,000, depending on the candidate's experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full-time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus and fringe benefits.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Core working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 . to 5:00 ., with flexibility for additional hours as needed.
