Job Title: Immigration Paralegal II
Job Responsibilities:
An Immigration Paralegal II at the law firm is tasked with a variety of responsibilities related to immigration and nationality law matters. The role involves close coordination with Attorneys to prepare, file, and monitor immigration cases. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading client communications via email and phone under the direction of a Senior Paralegal or Attorney.
- Providing guidance to clients regarding proprietary systems and case processing.
- Understanding and adhering to client communication procedures and requirements.
- Recording client services rendered and liaising with Accounting for processing.
- Demonstrating competence in handling case types previously managed and striving to broaden knowledge and independence in case handling.
- Processing advanced and varied corporate immigration cases.
- Evaluating cases, identifying concerns, and escalating them to appropriate law firm team members.
- Preparing forms, letters, documents, and correspondence for attorney review, and adapting tools and resources for casework that deviates from templates.
- Managing the status of all filed applications and petitions, and finalizing documents after attorney review.
- Utilizing document and data management systems to prepare, monitor, and record all aspects of client casework according to law firm policy.
- Preparing internal caseload reports for management.
- Sharing process flow with clients, identifying problematic cases, and discussing strategies/solutions with Attorneys.
- Performing research to obtain information such as background on a company or industry, current wages, processing procedures, and standard processing times.
- Initiating contact with government agencies to obtain necessary information and alerting Senior Paralegal or Attorney regarding potential process delays/problems.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the Immigration Paralegal II position should have the following qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years of . corporate immigration experience.
- A Bachelor’s Degree, 1-year law-related experience under a licensed attorney, or a Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program.
- The ability to thrive in a high-volume environment.
- Sound judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to catch and correct errors.
- Superior client service skills.
- The ability to effectively prioritize cases, caseloads, and other assigned tasks.
- Competence in meeting deadlines and goals.
- Proficiency in MS Office, scanning, and copying, and the ability to learn and navigate proprietary software effectively.

Working Conditions:
The role requires the ability to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods, as well as stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach daily. The Paralegal must be able to perform general office administrative activities like copying, filing, delivering, and using the telephone. Occasionally, lifting and moving up to 25 pounds is required. Regular and on-time attendance is mandatory. The role may necessitate working over 40 hours per week and occasional travel by conventional means within the region and to other locations as needed. A degree of creativity and flexibility is required to prioritize, schedule, and complete tasks for multiple applications with overlapping schedules.
