Job Title: Employee Benefits Partner
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide clients with counseling and advocacy services to assist in designing, establishing, maintaining, and operating a wide range of retirement, welfare, and executive compensation plans.
- Support mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence, purchase agreement review, and drafting, as well as other transactional matters.
- Draft employee benefit plan documents and summary plan descriptions.
- Exhibit technical proficiency in administrative service agreements related to retirement, welfare, and executive compensation plans.
- Assist with executive compensation matters, including compliance with sections 409A and 280G of the Internal Revenue Code, equity compensation, proxy review, and associated securities law issues.
- Drive business development initiatives to grow the practice by leveraging existing relationships and cultivating new client opportunities.
Education and Experience Information:
- Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school is required.
- Strong academic credentials.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in employee benefits law.
- Comprehensive knowledge of employee benefit laws and regulations, including the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and the Internal Revenue Code.
- Familiarity with compliance requirements related to executive compensation, qualified retirement, and welfare benefit plans.
- Experience in drafting, reviewing, and revising all forms of commercial documents and agreements related to business formation, including shareholder agreements, operating agreements, merger and acquisition agreements, and commercial contracts.
- Preferred candidates will bring a client portfolio of employee benefits matters.
- Excellent technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other practice areas to provide comprehensive solutions to clients.
Salary Information:
- The salary range for this position is $175,000 to $450,000.

- The salary range is a good faith estimate for applicants based in Buffalo, Rochester, Albany, or New York City. Placement within this range will vary based on legitimate criteria, such as experience and skill level. The range is not applicable to other locations.
