Job Title: Docketing Specialist
Job Responsibilities:
The Docketing Specialist at the law firm will have the primary responsibility of managing the docketing process for assigned office locations. This role involves a variety of tasks focused on ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of legal document management and scheduling. Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing court notices, pleadings, and agency filings to enter appropriate deadlines into the firm's docketing software.
- Generating and distributing reports, and working directly with attorneys to confirm the accuracy of case dockets.
- Reviewing incoming ECF/e-filings, faxes, scanned mail deliveries, and emails, and docketing them using CompuLaw Vision software in accordance with court/agency rules and the firm's current docketing protocols.
- Producing firm-mandated reports daily and weekly, as well as special reports upon request.
- Staying updated with developments, procedures, and rules in courts and agencies relevant to the designated assignment group.
- Applying established case-closing procedures as needed.
- Researching and responding to inquiries from attorneys, managers, paralegals, and assistants to manage the docket and calendars effectively.
- Assisting in additional projects as directed.
- Managing workload and time efficiently.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the Docketing Specialist position should meet the following educational and experience criteria:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a legal environment.
- Preferably three or more years of docketing experience.
- Familiarity with labor and employment law practice; specific experience with California docketing is preferred.
- Proficiency in using CompuLaw docketing software or similar rules-based docket management software.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical abilities, and resourcefulness.
- Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of state and federal courts and agencies within labor and employment law practices.
- Pro-active in obtaining and interpreting deadline-related information.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with attorneys, staff, and co-workers regarding all aspects of docketing, court filings, and processes.
- Proven project execution skills and a strong client service attitude.
- Ability to work independently to prioritize and execute tasks.
- Proficiency in technology.
Salary Information:
The expected hourly range for the Docketing Specialist position varies by location:
- Seattle, WA: - per hour.
- Sacramento, CA: - per hour.
- Riverside, CA: - per hour.
Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
