Job Responsibilities:
The Labor Law Senior Policy Advisor operates within the Labor Relations Unit of the Division of Labor Standards and Statistics. This position is responsible for administering and enforcing various labor-related acts including the Labor Peace Act, Industrial Relations Act, and others. The advisor ensures compliance with these laws through investigatory procedures and educates the public on their rights and responsibilities. The role involves evaluating legal theories and providing guidance tailored to specific circumstances, with a focus on federal labor relations law, particularly the National Labor Relations Act. The advisor proposes and directs courses of action based on the examination of federal and state laws and oversees the development of models and strategies pertaining to labor relations and public employee-protection laws. The position also involves stakeholder engagement, policy development, and training on labor law matters.
Education and Experience Information:
The position requires eight years of professional legal work experience, specifically in labor relations law under the federal National Labor Relations Act or similar laws. Alternatively, a combination of education and experience equal to eight years is acceptable, which includes coursework in civil procedure, administrative law, or labor or employment law. Preferred qualifications include a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and five years of professional legal work experience in labor relations law.
Salary Information:
The salary range for the Labor Law Senior Policy Advisor position is as follows:
