Job Title: Business Development Manager (Litigation)
Job Responsibilities:
The Business Development Manager (Litigation) at the law firm is tasked with driving marketing and business development for various practice groups and industries within the firm. Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with practice and industry group leaders, as well as client team leaders, to develop and execute business development strategies and related goals.
- Identifying new business development opportunities and coordinating attorney teams to pitch for new business, ensuring these opportunities are effectively executed from conception to completion.
- Drafting proposals, RFP responses, presentations, talking points, and background materials to support pitches and business development activities.
- Preparing submissions for rankings, directories, and other publications or contests to enhance the firm’s visibility and reputation.
- Creating marketing materials such as collaterals, website content, and other pieces to support business development efforts.
- Coordinating and participating in meetings for practice and industry groups, as well as client teams, to foster collaboration and strategic planning.
- Working with other Client Development team members to identify cross-marketing opportunities that can benefit the firm.
- Conducting research to gather intelligence on clients, targets, and market trends, providing attorneys with insights into the competitive landscape to enhance business acquisition efforts.
- Planning and implementing client meetings and events, including webinars and in-person events, to engage and build relationships with clients.
- Providing internal training and coaching to partners on improving their business development skills.
- Developing and managing budgets for business development activities within practice and industry groups.
- Supporting the recruitment and integration of lateral hires to strengthen the firm’s capabilities.
- Coordinating with the Communications team to identify and pursue PR opportunities that can enhance the firm’s public image.
Education and Experience Information:
The ideal candidate for the Business Development Manager (Litigation) position should meet the following qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in a marketing or business development-related role within a professional services environment, with a preference for candidates with law firm experience.
- Strong knowledge of litigation and enforcement/regulatory practices is essential.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to multitask effectively.
- A strong customer service orientation, responsiveness, technological savvy, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in project management, with the ability to anticipate needs and plan next steps strategically.
- Good judgment in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with multiple leaders.
- A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or a communications-related field is highly preferred, with an advanced degree being advantageous.
