Job Title: Claims Examiner I (Regional Docketing Specialist)

Job Responsibilities:
The position of Claims Examiner I (Regional Docketing Specialist) involves performing routine (journey-level) disability determination or workers’ compensation work. This includes tasks related to dispute resolution, claims processing, and analysis. The position requires reviewing and evaluating claims for proceedings, identifying and directing specific claims-related inquiries to appropriate staff, and providing responses to routine questions regarding workers’ compensation rules, policies, forms, and dispute services. The role involves working with confidential claim file information and may involve training others. Work may require travel, extended hours, and/or weekends, and is performed under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Specific duties include:
- Scheduling and rescheduling proceedings within mandated time frames based on assigned rotations.
- Assisting in coordinating, assembling, and preparing hearing records and other correspondence, such as orders, formal requests, motions, and subpoenas.
- Producing digital copies of documents for retention purposes and preparing files for scanning.
- Entering and verifying claim information in systems.
- Processing documents in a paperless environment and generating claims and proceedings correspondence to eligible parties.
- Providing efficient customer service related to informal and formal dispute resolution, orders, formal requests, motions, and subpoenas.
- Researching and reviewing claims to answer questions from internal and external system participants in person or telephonically, and documenting customer contacts in the division’s internal computer system.
- Monitoring compliance with systematic rotations.
- Performing other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Information:
The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in office practices and administrative procedures. Regular work attendance is required. Education and experience relevant to position requirements may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.

Preferences for this position include:
- Experience in disability determination, workers’ compensation claims processing, health care or social work environment, paralegal, and/or dispute resolution.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish language skills (oral).

The position requires demonstrated knowledge of:
- State laws, rules, procedures, and regulations relevant to job requirements.
- Office practices and administrative procedures.
- Word processing and data/key entry.
- Spelling, punctuation, and grammar.

The position requires demonstrated skills in:
- Problem-solving and critical thinking.
- Using Microsoft Office software applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
- Using personal computers sufficient to enter and extract data from related systems and programs such as Centralized Accounting Payroll and Personnel (CAPPS) and other systems required to perform the job.
- Planning and decision-making.
- Effective oral and verbal communication.
- The use of automated equipment.
- Providing exemplary customer service.

The position requires the demonstrated ability to:

Salary Information:
The salary for the position is specified as ranging from $3, to $3, monthly. The position is classified under the salary administration plan B, grade 14, and the overtime status is non-exempt.
