Job Title: Temporary Business Intake and Conflicts Legal Analyst
Job Responsibilities:
1. Provide guidance and assistance to Team Heads, Lateral Recruiting, and sponsoring partners in clearing conflicts for lateral hires. This includes directing lateral hires on clearing conflicts, opening matters, and transferring files from previous employers.
2. Review and analyze Outside Counsel Guidelines and other client-generated documents to ensure compliance with ethical rules and firm policies. Notify attorneys if guidelines include terms inconsistent with firm policy or are otherwise unacceptable. Coordinate with firm leadership and administrative departments such as Accounting, HR, OGC, and IT as necessary. Draft proposed correspondence for attorneys to modify OCG terms when requested.
3. Review, identify, analyze, and make recommendations to resolve new business conflicts and professional and firm risk management issues that arise from new business and/or conflict search requests. Activities are guided by the Model Rules of Professional Conduct and firm policy as interpreted by Business Intake Lawyers and the Office of General Counsel. Take ownership of assigned conflicts matters and ensure the completion of the analysis in coordination with Business Intake Lawyers.
4. Analyze the legal sufficiency of information provided about new clients, matters, parties, and the scope of services. Manage the collection, supplementation, and verification of information necessary for analyzing and resolving conflicts issues. Collaborate with attorneys and staff to gather sufficient data to resolve client identity and conflicts issues. Ensure issues are seen through to resolution.
Education and Experience Information:
- Education: A Juris Doctorate degree is required.
- Experience: A minimum of three years of business, legal, or equivalent experience is preferred, ideally in a law firm, professional services, or other client relationship-based organization. An active bar license is preferred.
Other Minimum Qualifications:
- Frequent travel may be required.
- Availability and willingness to work hours as needed to meet critical deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
