Paralegal Responsibilities: Monitor active asbestos filings and analyze same. Assist in the drafting of pleadings, discovery and motions and the subsequent electronic filing of same with the Cook, Madison, St. Clair and St. Louis County Circuit Courts/ Summarize medical records, Social Security earnings, employment records, discovery material and other documents obtained while maintaining index of all records. Prepare discovery requests, including the independent gathering of documents, facts and witness statements in preparing answers to interrogatories and responses to request for production. Assist with discovery including, but not limited to collecting, processing, reviewing and analysis of paper documents and electronically stored information (ESI). Maintain and search internal databases utilizing document management software. Prepare material for depositions and motions. Manage trial logistics, trial preparation including witness and trial binders, and compiling and tracking trial exhibits. Maintain court docket for Practice Group.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree. Paralegal Certificate from ABA-accredited program. Should have 3-5 years of experience as a litigation paralegal managing e-discovery preferably in Toxic Tort Defense Litigation. Knowledge of iManage [File-site], Elite 3e, Lexis File & Serve, Summation and Relativity document management software. Strong technical skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Adobe Acrobat. Ability to work effectively under tight time constraints, individually as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
