Job Title: Senior Counsel, Procurement Contracts
Job Responsibilities:
The Senior Counsel for Procurement Contracts will provide legal support to internal clients primarily related to supplier contracts, disputes, and compliance matters. Reporting directly to the Chief Counsel, Intellectual Property, Technology & Procurement, this role involves:
- Providing legal services to the Global Procurement group and other corporate function teams.
- Drafting and negotiating complex enterprise and cross-divisional procurement contracts for contract labor, employee benefits, software, and various other corporate services.
- Counseling procurement managers on risks and legal issues facing a multi-national technology and information analytics company.
- Offering legal advice and responding to requests on supplier contracts, contract law, disputes, regulatory, and compliance matters.
- Working with global procurement teams, human resources, government affairs, and other corporate function teams.
- Drafting, negotiating agreements, and recommending revisions to relevant contract language.
- Suggesting substantive improvements to contract templates and efficiency improvements to contract workflow and processes.
- Providing practical guidance related to contractors and third-party service providers, including major banks, consulting firms, and recruitment agencies.
- Supervising supplier-related disputes, terminations, bankruptcies, and other matters.
- Coordinating with specialized counsel in compliance, employment, intellectual property, and privacy areas.
- Collaborating with in-house counsel colleagues in foreign jurisdictions and in specialist counsel roles.
- Assisting in corporate or division-wide initiatives and special projects.
Education and Experience Information:
- An excellent academic record with a law degree from a respected law school.
- Proven legal experience in practicing procurement and technology law, preferably in a corporate law department or for multi-national corporations.
- Familiarity with data privacy regulations; IAPP certification recommended.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Proven contract drafting and negotiating skills.
- Ability to identify, prioritize, and analyze issues and provide legally sound recommendations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients worldwide.
- Excellent conflict management skills and the ability to influence without coercion.
- Ability to work independently and resolve problems effectively.
