Job Title: Associate Director of Business Development - Industry and M&A
Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as an advisor on strategic initiatives and high-value opportunities targeting industries with market strength and opportunity, alongside M&A and private equity practices.
- Support specific industry groups such as Hospitality, Technology, Media & Entertainment, Real Estate, and Sports by developing business and marketing plans with short- and long-term objectives aimed at sector growth, including measurable ROI and KPIs.
- Manage and develop a Business Development Manager and oversee the hiring, onboarding, and development of a coordinator. These roles support the delivery of effective marketing tactics focused on revenue generation, including data collection and reporting, event management, client relationship management, and new business.
- Develop core messaging and brand positioning for practice and industry offerings, including value propositions, top clients/matters, proof points, etc.
- Create and maintain marketing collateral that showcases practice and industry capabilities.
- Plan and execute events to build the brand and achieve practice and industry goals. Identify sponsorship opportunities at industry conferences and events that align with these goals.
- Develop sector-driven thought leadership campaigns and collaborate with the communications team to identify external communication strategies, such as pitching industry publications for trend pieces and source development.
- Support lawyers in developing compelling new business pitches and coach attorneys through the new business process.
- Benchmark activities against those of competitors.
- Manage budgets and track ROI for each industry practice.
Education and Experience Information:
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- 10-15 years of experience in a professional services environment.
- Practical experience in business development, marketing, or communications is required.
- Keen interest and passion for the industries and practices involved.
- High degree of drive and personal initiative to raise the firm's profile and generate business.
- Highly collaborative and results-driven.
- Strong strategic business development skillset with knowledge of core marketing principles.
- Robust project management skills.
- Ability to maintain professional composure and confidentiality in a fast-paced, high-pressure, multi-authority environment.
- Capability to work with a team of attorneys, staff, and all levels of management.
- Excellent written communication, presentation, analytic, and research skills.
Salary Information:
- The anticipated compensation range for this position is $200,000 - $270,000.
- The actual salary offered will be based on factors including, but not limited to, the applicant's qualifications, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and, if applicable, the location from which they will be performing the job.
The role requires physical presence in the law firm's offices on a regular basis (at least three times per week, or more, if it becomes the policy of the firm).
