Job Title: WC Legal Assistant

Job Responsibilities:

As the WC Legal Assistant 1 at the law firm, the primary responsibilities include:

- High-Level Case Management: The legal assistant is responsible for managing cases effectively to ensure clients receive the maximum Workers’ Compensation benefits they are entitled to, including medical treatment and income benefits, if applicable. This involves both non-litigation and litigation tasks.

- Communication: The legal assistant must communicate regularly with clients, attorneys, insurance adjusters, paralegals, medical providers, and others via telephone, email, and written correspondence to gather and relay important information.

- Document Management: Organizing and maintaining documents within the legal case management system is crucial. This includes data entry and ensuring all information is up-to-date and accurate.

- Task Prioritization: The legal assistant must prioritize and organize daily tasks and duties to meet client and firm deadlines while supporting attorneys and legal staff to provide the highest level of quality service to clients.

- Form Drafting and Submission: Drafting and submitting Worker’s Comp Board forms on the Georgia State Board of Workers’ Comp Claims Management System (ICMS) is part of the role.

- Information Gathering: Obtaining pertinent information from clients, such as medical and work status updates, doctor appointment information, documents, and other necessary details to maximize the client’s recovery.

- Document Preparation: Preparing litigation documents, pleadings, and discovery, if needed, is part of the responsibilities.

- Scheduling: The legal assistant schedules meetings, conference calls, appointments, depositions, and mediations and maintains the attorney's calendar.

- Additional Duties: Performing other duties as assigned by the law firm.

Education and Experience Information:

- Education: A minimum of a high school diploma is required, though some college education is preferred.

- Skills: The candidate should be bilingual, which is preferred. Proficiency in computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Word, is necessary. The legal assistant must be organized and capable of handling multiple complex tasks simultaneously, performing assignments with speed and accuracy, and creating a professional work product with attention to detail. Excellent communication skills and technology skills are essential.
