Docketing Specialist

Job Responsibilities
The Docketing Specialist at the law firm is tasked with a variety of essential functions that are critical to the operations of the Client Information Risk Services department. These responsibilities include:

- Reviewing electronic mail and filings to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Communicating routinely with attorneys, paralegals, and practice assistants to facilitate smooth operations.
- Participating in or managing assigned projects and tasks for local, regional, or firm-wide initiatives.
- Reviewing records and entering schedules or deadlines into the docketing system as needed.
- Generating and proofreading all routine and specialized docketing system reports and distributing them according to the Docketing Department reporting schedule.
- Reviewing state, federal, and judges’ rules, preferences, and standards for date calculations and distributing the information to team members.
- Recognizing conflicting data before entry into the system.
- Ensuring the retention of source documents/docket confirmation in the Document Management System.
- Staying updated on developments, procedures, and rules in forums where responsible.
- Conducting detailed research into calendaring, jurisdictional rules, and regulations within the docketing software.
- Performing date calculations while applying jurisdictional rules.
- Demonstrating familiarity with docketing department functions, terminology, and information collection methods.

Education and Experience Information
Candidates for the Docketing Specialist position are expected to have the following qualifications:

- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of four years of experience in litigation.
- Preferred experience with CourtAlert or other docketing systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and the Document Management System (DMS).
- Familiarity with PACER and Electronic Court Filings (ECFs).
- Excellent research, analytical, and reasoning skills, including a demonstrated understanding of how data interrelates.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of effectively communicating and providing explanations to all levels of attorneys and staff in the firm.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments within the parameters of the job functions and perform in an environment with shifting turnaround times.
- Strong ability to take ownership and responsibility for projects or special assignments.
- Solid initiative and independent judgment skills.
- Reliability, dependability, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Excellent customer service orientation, a positive and proactive manner, and a strong work ethic.

Salary Information
The salary for the Docketing Specialist position at the law firm varies based on geographic location and other job-related factors as permitted by law. The expected salary ranges for various locations are as follows:

- Colorado: $64,800 to $97,200
- New York State: $59,040 to $107,160
- California: $60,880 to $107,160
- Washington: $67,920 to $101,880
- DC: $67,920 to $101,880
- Baltimore: $60,880 to $91,320
- New Jersey: $71,440 to $107,160
- Illinois: $67,920 to $101,880

Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
