Job Title: Litigation Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
The Litigation Paralegal position at the law firm involves providing comprehensive litigation, administrative, and legal support to attorneys. The paralegal is expected to excel in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment that prioritizes high-quality work and positive workplace contributions. The essential functions include:
- Preparing indexes and chronologies of events from produced documents, including those from plaintiffs, defendants, and third parties.
- Preparing and maintaining privilege logs.
- Preparing documents required for depositions and summarizing deposition transcripts for attorneys' use.
- Reviewing and gathering relevant documents for motions and other court submissions.
- Organizing exhibits for pleadings and other court submissions.
- Conducting research on public records, witnesses, adversaries, arbitrators, mediators, etc.
- Coordinating and electronically filing all pleadings with the court, including knowledge of associated court rules.
- Assisting in drafting discovery documents such as interrogatories, document requests, requests for admissions, subpoenas, and organizing and coordinating document productions including Bates stamping and redaction.
- Assisting in drafting answers to complaints.
- Filing and updating electronic document systems and portals maintained by clients.
- Assisting in drafting letters to clients.
- Assisting in drafting settlement agreements.
- Preparing mediation submissions.
- Organizing and tracking documents received from clients and the court.
- Conducting computerized and legal research using resources such as the internet and Westlaw.
- Conducting e-discovery searches and uploads.
- Formatting tables of contents and tables of authorities.
- Proofreading and editing documents for grammar, content, and redactions.
- Providing high-level trial preparation and support, including organizing and indexing trial exhibits and other supporting documents.
- Offering litigation secretarial support as needed.
- Performing unplanned activities and other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.
Education and Experience Information:
The ideal candidate for the Litigation Paralegal position should have:
- At least 3 years of paralegal experience.
- A strong understanding of law firm procedures and requirements.
- A strong understanding of relevant court rules.
- Excellent grammar and proofreading skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- The ability to multi-task and plan effectively.
- High organizational skills.
- Strong research skills, including proficiency in Westlaw and internet research.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Salary Information:
The salary range for the Litigation Paralegal position is $80,000 to $90,000 per year, based on full-time employment. This range is provided in compliance with applicable law and reflects a good faith estimate. The final salary for the successful applicant will depend on various factors, including skills, experience, and years of practicing employment law.
