Join the Best Best & Krieger (BBK) team as a 2L Summer Associate and gain valuable experience in municipal and public agency law. As a leader in this field, BBK represents hundreds of cities, counties, and special districts, providing services in areas such as land use, environmental and natural resources, public finance, transportation, and more. With nearly 250 attorneys in 12 offices throughout California, Oregon, and Washington, ., BBK offers a unique opportunity to practice public interest work in a private law firm setting.
As a summer associate at BBK, you will have the chance to work on real assignments and projects, sharpen your research and writing skills, and learn from experienced mentors and peers. You will also have the opportunity to attend city council and public agency meetings, court hearings, and other client events, giving you a well-rounded understanding of the impact of legal work on our communities. Our summer program also includes professional development trainings, social events, and mentorship opportunities to help you build a fulfilling career in the legal field.
Diverse Practice Areas
Gain insight into our diverse practice areas, including environmental and natural resources, labor and employment, business transactions, public finance, and more. You will have the chance to work on issues facing our municipal, special district, and private sector clients, giving you a well-rounded understanding of public agency law.
Professional Development Trainings
Participate in sessions focused on best writing practices, effective legal research techniques, law firm finances, diversity, professionalism, and more. These trainings will help you develop the skills needed to succeed in the legal field and advance in your career.
Engaging Client Opportunities
Attend city council and public agency meetings, court hearings, and other client events alongside BBK attorneys. This will give you a firsthand look at the impact of legal work on our communities and provide valuable networking opportunities.

Individualized Experience & Feedback
Mentorship is a key aspect of our summer program. You will be matched with two dedicated mentors who will assist with your integration into the firm, answer any questions you may have, and help you make connections. You will also have the opportunity to work with different attorneys across our various office locations and practice groups, providing you with a diverse work experience. Throughout the summer, you will receive constructive feedback on your work product and professional development, and have an individualized, in-depth mid-summer review to help guide your career path.

We are currently recruiting for summer associates in our California offices in Riverside, Irvine, Los Angeles, San Diego, Sacramento, and Ontario. The summer associate salary is $2300 per week.
