Law Firm is seeking an experienced Personal Injury Paralegal to join its team. The successful candidate will provide support for cases from presuit through trial, including: • Daily interaction with existing and potential clients, via telephone and in person. • Obtaining documents necessary to support injury and/or liability positions. • Communicating with clients and providers during the course of treatment. • Interacting with insurance carriers and healthcare providers to secure records and account balances. • Negotiating case settlements with insurance carriers and negotiating a deduction of outstanding medical balances with providers. • Preparing comprehensive demands and assembling support for submission to carriers. • Managing case files from intake to closing under the direction of an attorney. • Preparing legal documents including pleadings, motions, affidavits, complaints, legal memoranda. • E-filing all court documents in state and federal court. • Conducting legal research and factual investigation. • Preparing discovery documents, interrogatories, and responses. • Drafting and serving summons. • Coordinating and summarizing depositions. • Preparing trial binders and exhibits. • Drafting pleadings, motions and appellate documents and filing them with the court. • Performing administrative duties (calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage logistics). • Maintaining pleadings and discovery indexes. • Organizing exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices. • Aiding attorney with interrogatories and other discovery requests. • Gathering relevant information from a variety of sources. • Liaising between trial teams and internal/external third parties. • Witness preparation. • Assisting with case settlements. • Other tasks as requested by the attorney. Qualification • Associate degree, certificate, or equivalent work experience (preferred). • 2+ years of presuit or litigation experience (preferred). • Completion of a nationally accredited paralegal program (preferred). • Experience in Personal Injury, WC, Premises, or other injury related practice areas (preferred). • Must possess the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage workload with a positive attitude and minimal supervision. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficient in calendaring depositions, mediations, and hearings. • Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. • Extensive computer and database expertise; Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and type no less than 35 wpm.
