Position Overview:

- The Workers Compensation Legal Assistant will handle incoming calls and emails for the Workers Compensation Department, set up new patient charts, schedule appointments, obtain authorizations, and process outgoing claims.
- This role also involves assisting patients, nurse case managers, adjusters, and physicians with any requests or needs related to workers compensation claim patients.

Responsibilities:

- Answering incoming calls and emails, providing information and scheduling appointments
- Reviewing accounts and forms for accuracy
- Sending documentation and orders to insurance carriers
- Communicating with claims adjusters and interpreting local and out of state policies
- Maintaining records and responding to inquiries from internal staff, patients, adjusters, and case managers
- Obtaining authorizations for initial visits, surgeries, and physical therapy

Qualifications:

- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
- Strong customer service, time management, and organizational skills
- Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Capacity to handle confidential information
- Comfortable working on the phones for extended periods
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Familiarity with company policies, state and federal regulations, and workflow processes
- Proven experience in medical billing, medical office, or hospital environment
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes is a plus
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent
