Our founder, Kristina Anderson, has over twenty years’ experience practicing law and placing lawyers in law firms and corporations. Kristina earned her J.D. in 1987 from Northwestern University School of Law, where she served as an editor of the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology and won the Julius H. Miner Moot Court, being named Best Speaker in the final round. After law school, Kristina served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney Chicago until 1994, trying over twenty federal jury cases to verdict, with only one loss. She then joined a boutique law firm, eventually becoming the chair of the white-collar criminal defense practice, the hiring partner for the firm, and the only female equity partner in the firm. Kristina has been a legal recruiter and career counselor since 1999. She practiced with a large search firm for many years and with another legal recruiter before founding Anderson Legal Search in 2007. Kristina has placed highly credentialed associates and partners with substantial portable business in AmLaw 100 firms as well as regional firms and boutiques. Kristina regularly speaks to lawyers’ professional organizations and other groups on career and recruiting issues, as well as counseling law students at area law schools on career options and strategic interviewing. Our approach to strategic recruiting involves getting to know candidates and employers well, understanding their strengths and goals, marketing candidates and firms ethically and appropriately, and making a long-term match that works well for both. Kristina is pleased that many of her associates have gone on to become very successful partners at their new firms, as well as lawyers in top corporate and government positions, and the majority of her partner candidates have flourished and grown their practices at their new firms. Diversity recruiting is an important part of our work. Kristina has a strong record of placing female, minority, and openly gay candidates. She welcomes candidates of all backgrounds to consult her about how to achieve the greatest possible career satisfaction. We are regularly consulted by law firms on strategies for recruiting diverse partner and associate candidates. When not deeply immersed in the world of legal hiring, Kristina, enjoys life on a small farm outside Chicago, along with her husband David, a molecular biology Ph.D. and regional manager of a biotech company, and two children. Their menagerie includes horses, ponies, cats, itinerant deer, and anything else that stops by to enjoy the salad bar (i.e. vegetable garden). Kristina and her husband were among the Founding Directors of Friends of Spring Creek Forest Preserves, an organization whose mission is the conservation and restoration of a unique 4,000 acre parcel of the Cook County Forest Preserve. Kristina has also served on the board of an equestrian organization, and volunteers with groups that assist homeless and disadvantaged persons in obtaining jobs. Previously, Kristina co-founded a tutoring program for high-risk students at a public school on the west side of Chicago. In their spare time, Kristina and Dave’s hobbies include hiking, gardening, reading back issues of The New Yorker, and pretending to understand each other’s work.
