Advice to law firm management: Take this job if you are very driven and can take the pressure. Most people who would be hired by this firm fit that mold but it's important to be that type. You will not last if you are not."

Pros: Working here means you work with some of the graduates of the best law schools in the country. You will be surrounded by people who are very smart and very driven. This can be great and you will learn many practice areas. The clients are the largest people and businesses in the world.

Cons: It tries to not be a mega firm but it really is. The promotions are cut throat and the hours are long for first year associates. If you do not make partner you are expected to leave. The cases are very complex and it means you will be working overtime most days.

Our founding partners - two highly respected law professors at Northwestern University and two former members of a prominent Chicago firm - were soon joined by like-minded colleagues also seeking an alternative to the large law firm environment. We have grown steadily ever since.

Summer associate program

Barack Ferrazzano typically hires three 2L summer associates each year. Thus, we limit our on-campus search efforts to a small number of top-tier law schools. We also participate in select job fairs and off-campus interview programs.

We encourage top 2Ls and 3Ls at other top-tier law schools to forward their resumes for consideration. In general, we seek well-rounded law students who have excelled in their academic pursuits.
