The Hawai`i State Judiciary is currently seeking a Circuit Court Clerk II (Lautenberg) for the Kapolei, Oahu location. Summary of Duties

As a Circuit Court Clerk II (Lautenberg), your main responsibility will be to determine and author the official record of every action in a court of general jurisdiction. This includes recording minutes, maintaining custody of all notices and documents presented in court, receiving and processing exhibits, and directing courtroom procedures for hearings and trials involving complex, contested cases.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

In order to be considered for this position, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, you must have at least one year of work experience in a court or legal setting, which includes preparing and/or processing legal forms and documents in court proceedings. You must also have at least six months of courtroom experience, with at least six months of that experience being comparable to that of a Circuit Court Clerk I or District Court Clerk II. Applicants must also possess the ability to type at a rate of 40 net words per minute.

Substitutions are allowed for education and specialized experience. For education, 15 semester credits in a paralegal, legal studies, law program, or a closely related field can be substituted for six months of specialized experience, up to a maximum of one year. A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Political Science, or a closely related field can also be substituted for one year of specialized experience. However, there is no educational substitution for the courtroom experience requirement.

Qualification for Firearms (Lautenberg)

Applicants must also be qualified to possess a firearm or ammunition in accordance with state and federal laws. This means that there can be no misdemeanor or felony domestic violence convictions.
