Structure

What I liked about working at WMC - the firm is relaxed and we get to wear jeans. The firm is family-oriented.

Structure needed.

I never had to avoid any partners. Some are genuine and care about the staff.

Cut back on the expansion and actually litigate the cases you have. They feel the need to constantly sign new contingent clients to turn a profit, but then put more resources into signing clients than they do litigating cases for the clients they signed.

Attorneys are given autonomy. This is both a pro and a con. The firm has a “sign up every possible client and see what happens” business model.

Profit sharing comp model but firm only turns a profit every 3-5 years. Every associate and partner makes $120k base and receives a share of the profits. If you are coming from biglaw, expect a very significant pay cut.

Any partner involved with their flood practice. Without going into detail, it is a practice you want to avoid unless you have no other options.

Partners care very little about how you get things done as long as you get things done. Some attorneys will go weeks on end without going into the office.
