United States, Civil Action No. 11-1303 (D.D.C. Aug. 28, 2012).].
  • Perkins Coie Successfully Removes Multimillion Dollar State Law Contract Claim To Federal Court: In April of this year, CRGT, a provider of technology solutions for the Federal government, filed a complaint in Virginia state court alleging that Perkins Coie client Northrop Grumman had breached a subcontract arising out of the U.S. Army's Defense Knowledge On-Line program. In particular, CRGT alleged that Northrop Grumman had failed to pay it for the Army's use of CRGT's software licenses.

Summer associate program


erkin Coie has a summer associate program that provides a range of work opportunities and social events designed to promote interaction for summer associates, attorneys as well as staff. The summer associate program is the firm's primary source of new associate hires. They primarily recruit second year law students and occasionally hire pre-clerkship third year law students for their domestic offices. Summer associates are not expected to commit to a specific practice area. They usually are expected to complete projects within a variety of practice areas.

Summer associates typically chosen by the firm have excelled in law school and have significant writing experience. They are expected to have good law review, law journal experience, moot court, or prior academic or professional writing experience. They must have strong interpersonal as well as communication skills as well a genuine interest in and understanding of law practice.

The summer program offers a range of assignments and learning experiences. The firm provides challenging legal work assignments that are similar to those that are given to associates.

The summer associates are provided review as well as feedback at the conclusion of an assignment. Summer associates are strongly encouraged to work on pro bono assignments as well, which can offer the opportunity for direct client contact as well as court experience. Attorneys at the firm are encouraged to invite summer associates to attend depositions, mediations, closings, clients meetings, trials, and other business activities.

They are also invited to attend continuing education sessions that are offered by the firm during the summer.
