What would you, or others, like to see changed at employer?
Every single one of the partners (and most staff) were aware of his behavior and chose to look the other way, even though I was his 7th assistant, even going so far as to have me sign a don’t sue me document.
What were the things that you liked most about this employer?
It used to have a very good reputation. Then 2008 cutbacks struck.
What did you not like about this institution?

People, departments, offices, products, services and whatever comes to mind that should be avoided at this institution
Avoid Bob Carey at all costs. He even contacted me 3 years later to say happy birthday. Yes, he is married.
How could this employer run its business to employees or the public better?
Horrible experience. I retired after 30 years in law.

Tonkon Torp, LLP practices law in the following areas and works with its clients to provide the best possible legal solutions.
Tonkon Torp, LLP follows the set of hiring criteria outlined below.
We seek future colleagues who have demonstrated through academic work and life experience the commitment and capability to excel in the practice of law serving business clients in the Pacific Northwest. We place high value on professionalism, diversity, and community service.
Providing pro bono services is an important part of life at Tonkon Torp and one of the firm's core values. In keeping with ABA standards, we encourage our lawyers to spend at least 50 hours each year on pro bono matters which are provided to persons of limited means, or to matters which are designed primarily to address the needs of persons of limited means. In practice, our attorneys donate thousands of hours annually in legal services and to community service activities.
Tonkon Torp is committed to developing a workforce that is diverse and represents the perspectives and experiences of our clients and communities. We, along with our clients, recognize diversity and inclusiveness as imperative to business success. Diversity strengthens us as a firm, as it expands our talent pool, enhances our responsiveness to clients, and adds valuable breadth and depth of perspective to the complex problems we help our clients solve.
The work our Summer Associates do is the same work our lawyers do. We have real projects that are needed by real clients on real issues. And, because the projects are related to work that is being done in the firm on pending matters, you will often have the opportunity to observe or participate in events arising from the project. The Summer Associate who assists in researching issues for a deposition will get to sit in on the deposition; a Summer Associate who researches an issue for a motion will likely be involved in drafting the motion or memorandum and then have the opportunity to watch oral argument on the motion; a Summer Associate who analyzes a tax issue in connection with a pending transaction will be asked to assist in and observe the final closing. These kinds of hands-on experiences will give you a very realistic exposure to the practice of law at Tonkon Torp.
