Advice to law firm management:
Make more positions available to keep senior employees and allow them to progress further in their career. It will be for the better.
Pros:
This firm is a great place to be. Everyone is very friendly and willing to work for the best of the firm. I feel like I am always included and I enjoy it very much.
Cons:
I feel like there isn't much room to move up in this firm and this will lead to me having to leave at some point to further my career.

Advice to law firm management:
Every single one of the partners (and most staff) were aware of his behavior and chose to look the other way, even though I was his 7th assistant, even going so far as to have me sign a don’t sue me document.
Pros:
It used to have a very good reputation. Then 2008 cutbacks struck.
Cons:

Avoid Bob Carey at all costs. He even contacted me 3 years later to say happy birthday. Yes, he is married.
Favorite Things About this Firm:
Horrible experience. I retired after 30 years in law.

Pro bono
Providing pro bono services is an important part of life at Tonkon Torp and one of the firm's core values. In keeping with ABA standards, we encourage our lawyers to spend at least 50 hours each year on pro bono matters which are provided to persons of limited means, or to matters which are designed primarily to address the needs of persons of limited means. In practice, our attorneys donate thousands of hours annually in legal services and to community service activities.

Summer associate program
The work our Summer Associates do is the same work our lawyers do. We have real projects that are needed by real clients on real issues. And, because the projects are related to work that is being done in the firm on pending matters, you will often have the opportunity to observe or participate in events arising from the project. The Summer Associate who assists in researching issues for a deposition will get to sit in on the deposition; a Summer Associate who researches an issue for a motion will likely be involved in drafting the motion or memorandum and then have the opportunity to watch oral argument on the motion; a Summer Associate who analyzes a tax issue in connection with a pending transaction will be asked to assist in and observe the final closing. These kinds of hands-on experiences will give you a very realistic exposure to the practice of law at Tonkon Torp.
