Job Title: Paralegal
Job Responsibilities:
The Paralegal position is a role within the Consumer Financial Services (CFS) litigation practice group at the law firm. The role involves working on specific client matters, projects, and/or attorney teams, with an annual billing component. The essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Conducting research in online legal resource platforms such as Westlaw and LexisNexis.
- Analyzing and summarizing legal sources including case law, statutes, constitutions, legal journal articles, treatises, . codes, and other relevant law-related information.
- Conducting research and running reports in PACER and other online court platforms.
- Working with litigation e-discovery and case management databases, performing functions like conducting searches, loading transcripts, and coding documents.
- Assisting with deposition preparation, including the preparation of deposition notebooks.
- Organizing and maintaining large matter files by accurately and timely saving correspondence, pleadings, discovery, court transcripts, and other case materials to the firm’s and/or client’s document management and/or collaboration platforms.
- Collecting, organizing, and Bates stamping documents for production.
- Reviewing and analyzing documents in large document productions.
- Collecting, organizing, and indexing documents by category, subject matter, and/or chronological order.
- Assisting with trial preparation by drafting pretrial disclosures, organizing trial exhibits and notebooks, and assisting with onsite war room and courtroom logistics.
- Retrieving public records from online resources or directly from government institutions.
- Summarizing depositions or other legal documents as necessary.
- Drafting and preparing legal documents appropriate to the practice area.
- Performing paralegal duties and responsibilities as directed by the group leader and other attorneys in the assigned substantive practice group.
- Performing all assignments in strict compliance with ethical guidelines governing the practice of law.
- Receiving and following complex instructions.
- Taking appropriate action to monitor and meet deadlines.
- Establishing priorities and working concurrently on a variety of projects.
- Demonstrating good teamwork skills within and among practice groups, offices, and the firm to facilitate efficient delivery of legal services.
- Participating in the training and professional development of other paralegals in routine practice elements.
- Maintaining the firm’s official matter file utilizing the document management system.
- Tracking and recording client-billable time and non-billable hours, meeting the firm’s minimum billable hour requirement.
- Maintaining and prioritizing work responsibly and communicating if unable to meet daily responsibilities.
Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of experience as a litigation paralegal is required.
- A certificate from an ABA-approved paralegal program is preferred.
Salary Information:
Compensation for the Paralegal position is dependent on several factors, such as position, location, education, training, and/or experience. The hiring salary range is between $105, and $125,.
