Job Responsibilities:
The paralegal position involves supporting attorneys in managing civil litigation defense cases. Key responsibilities include:
- Organizing and reviewing records, contracts, reports, and discovery materials
- Preparing case chronologies and summaries upon request
- Ordering medical, billing, and employment records
- Drafting and preparing legal correspondence, pleadings, motions, and discovery responses
- Managing subpoenas and related tracking
- Preparing and submitting materials to experts
- Conducting legal and factual research
- Coordinating communication with clients, witnesses, and experts
- Performing background research on parties and experts
- Assembling materials for depositions, hearings, and trial preparation
- Performing additional duties as assigned
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for this paralegal position must have:
- 2–3+ years of paralegal experience in civil litigation, preferably within a high-volume law firm
- Experience with state and federal court filings, including e-filing
- Strong knowledge of medical records with the ability to summarize them is advantageous
- Familiarity with billing practices and time entry
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); knowledge of Westlaw is preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a paralegal certificate is preferred
