Job Overview:
A respected law firm in New Orleans, LA, is seeking an experienced associate attorney with a background in handling ERISA-related litigation and class action matters. This opportunity is ideal for a legal professional interested in complex employment benefit disputes, fiduciary liability cases, and Department of Labor investigations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong litigation capabilities, attention to procedural details, and a proactive approach to managing multifaceted discovery processes.

Duties:

  • Represent employers in litigation matters involving ERISA and employee benefits-related disputes

  • Handle class and collective actions, including strategy development, motion practice, and court appearances

  • Manage complex discovery and e-discovery workflows in high-volume cases

  • Respond to regulatory investigations and enforcement actions involving the Department of Labor

  • Draft legal pleadings, discovery requests/responses, and settlement agreements

  • Conduct depositions and prepare witnesses for testimony

  • Collaborate with legal teams to develop defense strategies tailored to the client's business needs

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of litigation experience, ideally with exposure to employee benefits or class action matters

  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex litigation, preferably in the context of ERISA

  • Prior experience with class action defense is strongly preferred

  • Familiarity with large-scale document review platforms and e-discovery best practices

  • Must hold active Bar admission in at least one . jurisdiction

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an ABA-accredited law school

  • Strong academic performance preferred

Certifications:

  • Active and good standing membership in a state Bar (Louisiana Bar membership preferred or willingness to obtain)

Skills:

  • Strong written advocacy and verbal communication skills

  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in legal documentation

  • Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously under tight deadlines

  • Proficiency in organizing litigation documents and working within case management systems
