Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking an experienced ERISA Complex Litigation Associate to join its team in the New Orleans office. This position offers the opportunity to work within a highly acclaimed ERISA litigation group with a national reputation. The ideal candidate will have federal court litigation experience, with a strong desire to excel in a premier ERISA complex litigation practice. Class action experience and a client-focused approach are preferred. The role involves handling complex cases related to employee benefits, including 401(k) and 403(b) plans, defined benefit plans, and health and welfare plan issues.

Location:

  • New Orleans, LA

Duties:

  • Handle defense of 401(k) plans, 403(b) plans, and defined benefit plans.
  • Defend litigation involving health and welfare plan issues.
  • Represent clients in court and arbitration in various matters, including:
    • Breach of fiduciary duty
    • Breach of the duty of loyalty
    • Prohibited transactions
    • 401(k) plan asset performance, fees, and expenses
    • 403(b) plan asset performance, fees, and expenses
    • Defined benefit plan asset issues and cut-back issues
    • ESOP litigation
    • Fiduciary misrepresentation claims
    • Severance plan class actions
    • Section 510 cases
    • Complex benefit claim cases

Requirements:

  • At least 7 years of litigation experience, with a focus on federal court litigation.
  • ERISA and class action experience are preferred.
  • Expertise in ESI (Electronically Stored Information) is a bonus.
  • Ability to manage a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes in law.
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Competitive class ranking.

Certifications:

  • Member of the Bar in good standing.
  • Willingness to sit for and pass the Louisiana State Bar.
