Job Title: Mechanical Patent Associate - Mid to Senior Level
Job Responsibilities:
The Mechanical Patent Associate will be part of the Intellectual Property Practice Group at the law firm, engaging in various tasks related to patent law. Key responsibilities include:
- Strategic development of patent portfolios, which involves patent procurement and prosecution.
- Client counseling and management of patent portfolios.
- Providing support in patent analysis and patent litigation.
- Collaborating with clients from various industries both domestically and internationally.
- Engaging with large organizations that have established patent programs, including international entities.
- Managing a large docket efficiently, ensuring adherence to internal and external deadlines.
- Working independently while also collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Education and Experience Information:
- 2-5 years of patent preparation and prosecution experience, either in-house or as outside counsel, with a focus on the mechanical arts such as recreational vehicles, industrial devices, medical devices, and consumer devices.
- A Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering is preferred; however, candidates with other degrees will be considered.
- Additional legal, industry, and/or academic experience in mechanical engineering or related fields is desirable.
- Active bar admission in California, New York, Oregon, Washington, or Washington, .
- Registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Strong time management and organizational skills are required.
- Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- A demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks is essential.
Salary Information:
The annualized salary range for this position in California, New York, Washington, and Washington, . is between $260,000 to $315,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
