Introduction:
The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.'s Office is currently seeking a Legal Secretary II to provide support to the Assistant Attorney Generals. This is a full-time position with the option to work remotely. The salary for this position ranges from $29,822 to $55,602 per year and is dependent on experience and qualifications. The job location is statewide, with openings available in multiple divisions, including Child and Family Protection Division. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience as a legal secretary or have completed a legal secretary/paralegal training program.
Job Duties:
- Prepare legal pleadings and documents necessary for cases on behalf of the client.
- Draft and type correspondence.
- Answer inquiries from clients, court personnel, and others regarding case activity and status.
- Coordinate and follow up on service of process.
- Enter all calendar events, deadlines, and case activities in case management database.
- Independently generate legal forms needed in all types of actions.
- Calendar court appearances, hearings, depositions, meetings, and other functions.
- Review incoming and outgoing correspondence and pleadings.
- Refer incoming correspondence and pleadings to appropriate attorney.
- Ensure that legal documents and enclosures are complete and in order.
- Make travel arrangements and complete necessary documentation for in-state and out-of-state travel.
- Open, maintain, and close files in accordance with office standards.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
- Knowledge of word processing programs, legal terminology, and legal forms.
- Understanding of the attorney/client relationship, including the need for confidentiality and discretion.
- Knowledge of court procedures and applicable time-frames.
- Extensive knowledge of court procedures and applicable time-frames.
- Knowledge of the principles, concepts, practices, methods, and techniques common to a modern law office.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with interruptions and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to perform detailed work with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to track and follow through on voluminous court actions in various states.
- Ability to utilize automated case management systems and follow office procedures for maintaining and tracking records.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and perform varied tasks and track multiple deadlines simultaneously.
Selective Preference(s):
- Ideal candidates will have extensive experience as a legal secretary or have completed a legal secretary/paralegal training program.
