Job Title: Litigation Paralegal

Job Responsibilities:

The Litigation Paralegal is responsible for managing all administrative and paralegal tasks associated with legal cases within the law firm. The primary responsibilities include:

- Preparing and formatting memoranda, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Independently drafting standard routine pleadings, correspondence, and other documents.
- Reading and electronically profiling emails.
- Filing pleadings via legal messenger or electronically with courts.
- Maintaining superior public relations with business associates and clients.
- Scheduling appointments, meetings, hearings, depositions, and other meetings for attorneys.
- Assisting in the scheduling of seminars, industry dinners or luncheons, and other functions as requested.
- Collaborating closely with other staff members in a team-oriented manner.
- Working closely with paralegals to maintain case files.
- Proofreading legal documents as required.
- Providing support to the Legal Team in a high volume, time-sensitive atmosphere.
- Providing service updates, client status updates, and following up on outstanding documents and services.
- Coordinating with title contacts to complete outstanding tasks such as recordings and acquiring missing documents.
- Drafting and generating pleadings such as Complaints, Motions, Notices of Hearings, Affidavits, Defaults, Notices of Actions, and Notices of Publications.
- Conducting legal research when needed.
- Assisting with the management of closed, active, and hold files, including forwarding invoices for foreclosure fees and costs.
- Managing and organizing the production of documents and identifying privileged documents.
- Generating reports and following up on identified outstanding tasks.
- Updating client systems and internal systems as needed.
- Performing other duties and responsibilities as needed to support the law firm.

Education and Experience:

- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required. Secondary education or some college coursework is considered a plus.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Litigation Paralegal or general knowledge of Florida’s mortgage litigation cases is required.
- Certification as a Paralegal is considered a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- Must have a positive attitude and be a team player.
- Ability to provide legal support to attorneys and the team.
- Skill in managing a portfolio of files for clients.
- Ability to navigate through state and federal jurisdictional requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with clerks, judges, and defense attorneys in various courts.
- Must provide excellent customer service both internally and externally.
- Must be a self-starter with good time-management abilities.
- Ability to balance team and individual responsibilities and contribute to building a positive team spirit.
- Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness and look for ways to improve and promote quality.
- Must possess exceptional organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, and adaptability to change.
- Ability to read and write for proofreading and editing purposes.
- High-level proficiency in the MS Office suite.
- Proficiency in internet research activities.
- Familiarity with case and document management software.
- A good understanding of the policies and procedures of law.
- Ability to transcribe correspondence, reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to operate a computer, fax machine, scanner, photocopier, typewriter, and telephone.
- Strong written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands for this position include the ability to sit, talk, or hear frequently. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

The work environment is characterized by normal office working conditions with a noise level ranging from quiet to moderate.
