Job Title: Paralegal - Personal Injury/Employment Law
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct research to support legal proceedings, ensuring that all information gathered is relevant and accurate to assist attorneys in building their cases.
- Assist with the drafting and reviewing of legal documents, which includes preparing initial drafts and ensuring all documents comply with legal standards and are free of errors.
- Review client files and medical records to respond to discovery requests, ensuring that all pertinent information is accurately relayed and documented.
- Communicate with clients to keep them informed about the progress of their cases and to gather any additional information required for case development.
- Schedule client medical appointments and deposition dates, coordinating with clients and other involved parties to ensure timely and efficient scheduling.
- Record and store client information in an organized manner, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to data protection regulations.
- Help maintain the office calendar, ensuring all deadlines, appointments, and court dates are accurately recorded and managed.
- Make phone calls as needed to help move cases to resolution, including follow-ups with clients, attorneys, and other relevant parties involved in the case.
Education and Experience Information:
- Paralegal experience is required, with preference given to candidates who have a college degree.
- Spanish-speaking candidates are preferred, as this skill can assist in communicating with a broader client base.
- Familiarity with legal research is necessary to effectively support attorneys in case preparation and development.
- Candidates must possess the ability to prioritize and multitask, managing several responsibilities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for drafting documents, communicating with clients, and collaborating with other team members.
- Candidates must have college-level writing skills and a strong command of English grammar to ensure all communications and documents are clear and professional.
- A minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute is required to efficiently handle the volume of document preparation and data entry tasks.
- A professional demeanor is necessary for interacting with clients and representing the law firm in a positive manner.
Salary Information:
- Compensation for this role ranges from $25 to $29 per hour, depending on experience.
