Job Title: Paralegal - Wage & Hour Class Action
Job Responsibilities:
Paralegals in the Employment Wage & Hour Class Action department at the law firm are responsible for providing essential litigation support to attorneys and partners. This role involves managing a high volume of cases, requiring resourcefulness and the ability to multi-task while maintaining a high attention to detail. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing correspondence, letters, pleadings, and all forms of discovery.
- Proofreading and editing legal documents for accuracy and clarity.
- Conducting legal research and gathering relevant information for cases.
- Maintaining case files on the firm’s document and case management system.
- Assisting in preparing for hearings, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
- Managing cases, calendars, projects, and client communication.
- Providing administrative support to the legal team.
Education and Experience Information:
Candidates for the Paralegal - Wage & Hour Class Action position should possess the following qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of paralegal experience in Labor and Employment and Wage & Hour law.
- Proficiency in e-filing in State and Federal courts, with experience in appellate courts and administrative agencies being a plus.
- Experience in propounding/responding to discovery, calendaring hearings and court deadlines, and assisting with mediation/arbitration/trial preparation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of effective interaction with employees at all levels across the firm.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and the capability to provide leadership and guidance to paralegals, legal assistants, and clerks.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent proofreading skills.
- Proficiency in conducting legal research using Lexis-Nexis, Westlaw, or similar platforms.
- Experience using Litify or similar case/document management systems.
- Spanish fluency and proficiency with Microsoft 365 are strongly preferred.
- A Bachelor’s degree is considered a plus.
Salary Information:
The position is an hourly role, with compensation ranging from $35 to $55 per hour, depending on experience.
