Brooks Law Group, a well-respected and growing law firm in Winter Haven, Florida, is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to join our team. As a Litigation Legal Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting our attorneys in developing personal injury settlements, preparing documents and correspondence, and maintaining organized case files. We are looking for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with a strong dedication to achieving the best outcomes for our clients. Bilingual proficiency is a plus, but not required.
Some of the qualifications and skills we are looking for include a minimum of 2 years of legal experience, extensive knowledge of Florida Insurance Laws, negotiating skills, and intermediate to advanced computer skills. Responsibilities:
- Complete intakes on prospective cases and interact with existing and potential clients, both via telephone and in person.
- Order medical records from providers and communicate with them during the course of treatment.
- Obtain necessary documents to support injury and/or liability positions.
- Interact with insurance carriers and healthcare providers to secure records and account balances.
- Negotiate case settlements with insurance carriers and negotiate a reduction of outstanding medical balances with providers.
- Work directly with multiple coworkers involved in the management and support of case files.
- Maintain organized case files and prepare comprehensive demands and assemble support for submission to carriers.
- Interact with attorneys and present case synopsis when required.
- Manage case files from intake to closing under the direction of an attorney.
- Complete drafts, pleadings, discovery, and motions to prepare cases for trial, mediation, or arbitration.
- Have a vast understanding of how to send motions, prepare for trial, and maintain client/case accountability in personal injury cases.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years of legal experience.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of Florida Insurance Laws.
- Negotiating skills.
- Ability to be a team player and follow procedures.
- Excellent people skills and professional demeanor.
- Ability to be creative and "think outside of the box".
- Proactive interaction with clients, insurance companies, and medical providers.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
