Job Title: Paralegal

Job Responsibilities:
The paralegal is responsible for providing a comprehensive range of professional legal support services to attorneys. Key duties include conducting basic legal research and summarizing legal documents. The role involves providing litigation and pre-trial discovery support, as well as analyzing data. The paralegal is expected to review and draft agreements and business communications, and to review due diligence materials, which include permits and real estate documents. This position requires interaction with the public, governmental agencies, law firms, management, and co-workers.

Specific responsibilities include:
- Assisting in obtaining and reviewing due diligence materials, such as title reports, liens, and permits at local, state, and federal levels, including special use permits.
- Conducting legal and business research and communicating findings through memoranda, while also creating electronic resource libraries as needed.
- Collecting, reviewing, and organizing information or documents, and creating procedures for the collection and storage of information.
- Drafting and revising agreements, including confidentiality and procurement agreements, along with other documents subject to attorney approval.
- Monitoring developments in pending cases, filings, and transactions, and reporting to attorneys and management as necessary.
- Drafting periodic legal reports and summaries for management, and creating, maintaining, and updating charts of legal activities and expenses.
- Creating and maintaining paper and electronic files for transactions, trademarks, litigation, and other matters.
- Performing additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Education and Experience Information:
Candidates must possess either a bachelor's degree or have six years of work experience as a paralegal. Preference is given to certified paralegals, and work experience in the energy sector is preferred. Prior experience in employment or real estate is also advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate an understanding of basic legal terms and proficiency in legal internet research tools. Strong organizational skills, particularly in document control, are required, as are strong personal computer skills, with proficiency in Word and Excel. Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with effective analytical and problem-solving skills. The candidate must be able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently and maintain strict confidentiality of company information. The ability to build relationships with a variety of employees and non-employees and to obtain information despite real or perceived impediments is important. It is essential that employees can perform the essential functions of the position, with or without accommodation.
