Paralegals play a crucial role in the criminal justice system, providing essential support to prosecutors in the investigation and prosecution of crimes. The New York County District Attorney’s Office (DANY) is seeking qualified paralegals to join their team in the Trial and Investigation Divisions. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary range of $50, – $53,.
As a paralegal in DANY, you will work closely with Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs) to assist in all aspects of investigations and trials. This includes compiling and analyzing case documents, coordinating schedules with courts and other parties, drafting legal documents, and testifying at judicial proceedings. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential for this role, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and stakeholders.
To be considered for this position, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and at least one year of experience as a paralegal in the criminal justice field, or equivalent experience. Fluency in a foreign language, particularly Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, or Fukienese, is preferred but not required.
In addition to the minimum qualifications, candidates must also possess excellent problem-solving skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to quickly learn and use various computer systems. The position offers a Monday-Friday work schedule from 9 am to 5 pm.
