Are you a motivated second-year law student with excellent academic performance and diverse interests? Are you enthusiastic about the practice of law? If so, we invite you to apply for the Saul Ewing Summer Associate Program.
At Saul Ewing, we are committed to giving our summer associates a true taste of what it's like to be a full-time associate at our firm. Through a variety of client projects, social events, and training sessions, you will experience the collaborative and supportive culture that makes our firm an amazing place to work.
What to Expect from Our Summer Associate Program
- Real Work Experience: Our summer associates work on real assignments that are read and used by clients and judges. You'll attend client meetings, court conferences, and even trials, giving you a firsthand look at the practice of law.
- Legal Skills Workshops: We'll help you refine and sharpen your legal writing and drafting skills through practical, hands-on guidance from talented legal writers. Our workshop series covers essential skills for attorneys, including contract drafting and negotiation, legal research and memoranda, bluebooking, and marketing writing.
- Evaluations and Feedback: You'll receive direct feedback from your assigning attorney on each assignment, as well as mid-summer and end-of-program evaluations that mirror our associate evaluation process. We believe in candidly sharing your strengths and areas for improvement to help you grow as a legal professional.
- Writing Advisor Program: As a summer associate, you will have a private writing advisor, typically a partner at the firm, who will provide ongoing feedback and help you improve your writing skills. This personalized feedback from an experienced attorney is a valuable opportunity for growth.
- Mentor Program: Each summer associate is assigned a mentor who will offer guidance and support throughout the summer. Many of our mentors are former summer associates, giving them firsthand experience with the program and valuable insights to share with you.
Community and Social Events
Our Summer Associate Program also includes a variety of community and social events to help you get to know our attorneys, clients, and firm culture. From cooking classes and museum tours to volunteer opportunities and dinners with public figures and judges, there are plenty of opportunities to network and have fun during the summer.
