Cooley, a leading law firm, is currently seeking a Conflicts Analyst to join their Business Intake and Conflicts team. This is a full-time position and can be based in New York, Chicago, or Washington DC. The firm is looking for a highly skilled and experienced individual to analyze and resolve all conflicts requests, ensuring that all firm engagements and hires are clear from a business and ethical perspective.
As a Conflicts Analyst, you will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and resolving conflicts requests, using your independent judgment and demonstrating a thorough understanding of the business needs. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of direct applicable experience, which could include experience within a law firm, legal environment, or conflicts department.
Responsibilities for this position include analyzing and processing all conflict requests, preparing database search terms and reports, conducting corporate research, identifying potential conflicts, and communicating with partners to propose solutions. The Conflicts Analyst will also be responsible for drafting conflict waivers and engagement letters, maintaining conflict resolution notes, implementing ethical screens, and providing conflicts training for staff. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of the American Bar Association’s Model Rules of Professional Conduct and California State Bar Association’s Rules of Professional Conduct, as well as experience conducting legal and corporate research. A Bachelor’s Degree and Paralegal Certificate are preferred, but not required. Cooley also values excellent communication and interpersonal skills, good judgment, and strong analytical and critical thinking abilities in their Conflicts Analysts.
Cooley offers a competitive compensation and benefits package and is committed to fair and equitable employment practices. The expected hourly pay range for this position is - ($72, - $97, annually), depending on geographic location, applicable experience, and skillset of the candidate.
