Paralegal The candidate uses knowledge gained through extensive experience, paralegal degree and/or bachelor degree to assist attorneys with file handling. Uses education, experience, and thorough understanding of litigation process in state of operation and local jurisdiction to assist attorneys in discovery, pre-trial matters and/or trial preparation to proactively move assigned files to conclusion. Uses thorough understanding of local, state and federal rules to draft pleadings, motions, subpoenas, appellate pleadings, and other documents as assigned. Assists in trial preparation. Uses understanding and experience with medical records and terminology to proactively identify new areas of discovery. Uses automation skills proactively to increase productivity and efficiency in management of cases, and to assist attorneys in trial preparation and/or presentation. Uses legal research and writing skills to draft complex motions and pleadings. Works under minimal supervision and shows initiative. Acts as a role model for co-workers by setting standards for work product, ethics, professionalism, teamwork, and attitude. Assists with training and mentoring entry-level paralegals. Should have 3+ years of experience as a paralegal in an insurance defense firm. Effective communicator and committed team player that possesses a strong work ethic. Strong organizational skills are required in this fast-paced work environment. Working knowledge/experience utilizing the Texas Rules of Civil Procedures. Working experience in answering discovery, and medical summaries/chronologies.
