Job Title: Senior Counsel – Insurance Agency

Job Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice and support concerning the marketing and sale of insurance products primarily through a retail field force of independent contractor insurance agents.
- Prepare, review, and negotiate legal contracts, documents, and agreements, including selling agreements, distribution agreements, and agent agreements.
- Support the agency in pre-litigation, litigation, and regulatory examinations and investigations, representing the agency to its regulators.
- Collaborate with compliance staff in drafting policies and procedures, reviewing sales, advertising, and marketing materials, incentive programs, sales contests, and field compensation plans.
- Monitor, review, and interpret applicable and proposed state and federal guidance, laws, rules, and regulations related to the distribution of insurance products and insurance agencies.
- Work on complex legal issues requiring analysis and evaluation of multiple factors.
- Participate in departmental and cross-functional working groups in identified areas of legal expertise.

Education and Experience Information:
- JD from an accredited law school.
- Licensed or otherwise eligible to practice in-house in the US.
- At least 5 years of experience as an attorney, including experience in the US life insurance industry.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, with the intended audience.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to adapt and provide agile legal advice.
- Comfortable in a rapidly changing corporate environment.
- Proficient in using MS Office.
- Good organizational and project management skills, with the ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities.
- Action-oriented with the ability to prioritize workload with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Salary Information:
- The salary for this position generally ranges between $170,000 - $180,000 annually. This range is a good faith estimate, with actual starting pay determined by several factors including qualifications, experience, geography, work location designation (in-office, hybrid), and operational needs. Salary may vary above and below the stated amounts as permitted by applicable law.
- This position is typically eligible for an Annual Bonus based on the Company Bonus Plan/Individual Performance and is at the Company's discretion.

- Working Conditions: Hybrid office environment with occasional travel to other locations in the US and/or Canada.
