Job Title: Assistant General Counsel, Crypto
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive legal counseling on a variety of retail cryptocurrency products and services, working collaboratively with colleagues and cross-functional stakeholders within the company.
- Respond promptly to sophisticated legal requests, coordinating closely with the team and external counsel to deliver practical, timely, and high-quality advice.
- Identify and assess business and legal risks, devising creative strategies to mitigate them while achieving product goals.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Advise on legal and regulatory developments related to cryptocurrency.
- Advise on deals, review, draft, and negotiate agreements in support of new products and partnerships.
- Develop trusted relationships to facilitate a coordinated team approach to launching new products and features.
- Act as a business partner, thinking like a proactive product owner, not just a legal advisor.
- Assist with various legal tasks as needed.
Education and Experience Information:
- . degree from an ABA accredited law school (or foreign equivalent).
- Membership in at least 1 . State Bar, in good standing.
- 5+ years of relevant work experience at a law firm, government agency, or within technology, financial services, banking, payments, brokerage, or fintech companies.
- Experience with legal and regulatory requirements related to securities, money transmission, and/or cryptocurrencies.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey information internally and externally, including to non-legal audiences, and drive cross-functional alignment and action.
- A motivated approach with humility, determination, and innovation to accomplish tasks.
Salary Information:
- The salary for this role depends on various job-related factors, including education, training, experience, location, business needs, and market demands. The expected salary range is based on the location where the work will be performed, aligned to one of three compensation zones.
- Zone 1 (Menlo Park, CA; New York, NY; Bellevue, WA; Washington, DC): $202,000 - $238,000 USD
- Zone 2 (Denver, CO; Westlake, TX; Chicago, IL): $178,000 - $209,000 USD
- Zone 3 (Lake Mary, FL; Clearwater, FL; Gainesville, FL): $158,000 - $186,000 USD
