Trust Account Assistant 1 is a crucial position within a law firm, responsible for managing and maintaining trust accounts in compliance with financial regulations. This role involves daily reconciliation of transactions, processing of checks, and transferring funds to the correct accounts. We are currently seeking a Trust Account Assistant 1 at our law firm in Charlotte, NC.
Responsibilities: (Bold)
- Perform daily matching of transactions between bank activity and the closing software (SoftPro).
- Facilitate the timely and accurate delivery of daily mail and transactions to the appropriate department.
- Handle the deposit of return/refund checks received in trust accounts.
- Regularly upload monthly statements for reconciliation purposes.
- Execute the transfer of funds to correct accounts, including managing junk ledgers.
- Review and approve internal transfers initiated from check requests.
Salary Information: (Bold)
- Full-time, hourly position with a salary range of per hour.
- 0-3 years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience with trust accounts, escrow accounts, or financial management is a plus.
Qualifications/Core Competencies: (Bold)
- Experience with accounting software and financial management tools.
- Familiarity with industry-specific software such as SoftPro or Rynoh.
- Understanding of financial regulations and compliance related to trust and escrow accounts.
- Strong attention to detail for accurate financial record-keeping and reconciliation.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of trust account procedures and compliance.
- Understanding of financial principles and ability to interpret financial statements.
- Problem-solving skills for identifying and resolving financial discrepancies.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Flexibility to adapt to changes in procedures, software, or industry regulations.
- High ethical standards and integrity in handling financial transactions and sensitive information.
- Customer service orientation, particularly when dealing with clients and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills for analyzing financial data and identifying trends.
- Willingness and ability to learn new accounting software and tools.
- Efficient time management skills for handling multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
