Job Description:

- Conduct detailed investigations to locate absent parents, establish paternity, and obtain court orders for financial support and health care coverage for children
- Collaborate with state agencies and community organizations to serve Texas families

Essential Position Functions:

- Conduct in-office investigations, prepare legal documents, and negotiate with parties to establish or enforce child support orders
- Monitor child support cases and refer delinquent cases for enforcement action
- Review and maintain child support virtual files for accuracy
- Attend court to assist legal staff
- Research case information on the computer and maintain knowledge of child support policies and procedures
- Assess child support cases and assign and monitor work of assigned staff
- Provide training and technical assistance to office staff, and supervise staff in the absence of the office manager or supervisor
- Explain Child Support Program policies, procedures, and regulations to customers and respond to complex inquiries and complaints
- Serve as Notary Public and maintain security and confidentiality of sensitive information
- Comply with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity

Qualifications:

Minimum:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 4 years of full-time experience in Child Support Program or related field, with at least 1 year in a similar position
- Knowledge of investigative practices and techniques, child support policies and procedures, and basic mathematical computations
- Skill in interviewing, negotiating, using a personal computer, and handling multiple tasks
- Effective oral and written communication skills, sound judgment, and decision-making abilities
- Ability to receive and respond positively to feedback, work cooperatively with others, and provide excellent customer service
- Must be able to work in person at assigned OAG work location, perform all assigned tasks at designated OAG work space within OAG work location, and perform in-person work with coworkers for the entirety of every work week
- Must be able to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel, work more than 40 hours as needed, and lift and relocate 30 lbs.
- Must be able to type 35 words per minute (typing test required at time of interview)

Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Knowledge of investigative practices and techniques
- Spanish proficiency
