Job Title: Paralegal

Job Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of an attorney, the Paralegal provides essential day-to-day support to the labor and employment, data privacy law teams, and the Ethics and Compliance team within the legal department of the company. The individual in this role is expected to adeptly navigate large, multi-functional, and complex organizations, fostering positive working relationships with peers, corporate attorneys, outside counsel, and internal stakeholders. This position demands strong project management, organizational, written and oral communication, and Excel skills.

Key responsibilities include:
- Providing routine paralegal support for labor and employment, data privacy legal matters, and ethics and compliance programming, including handling state/federal EEO charges, litigation, audits, severances, union matters, data privacy compliance, and internal investigations.
- Conducting necessary legal and business research to provide timely and relevant information in response to legal inquiries.
- Assisting in the electronic discovery process, including creating and distributing legal holds, tracking them, assessing when they can be lifted, and communicating with hold recipients.
- Acting as the initial contact for business partners on employment litigation and administrative matters to gather necessary documents and information, summarizing the information for inside and outside counsel, and coordinating with HR, IT, and other stakeholders.
- Supporting internal investigations as a second chair interviewer/notetaker, document reviewer, and assisting with the employee anonymous reporting line.
- Assisting in legal case resolution processes, including mediation and settlement, and supporting audits by state or federal regulators.
- Supporting internal reporting, such as quarter-end reporting to senior executives and/or the Audit Committee of the company’s Board of Directors.
- Drafting form documents and templates, recommending standardized practices, and facilitating processes, procedures, and policies.
- Tracking and managing legal matters and related expenses in the legal billing system, preparing reports regarding status, progress, and costs, and recommending efficiency and cost-effective measures.
- Preparing, sending, and receiving confidential correspondence, reports, and documents, arranging meetings, and assisting with travel schedules and reservations for attorneys.
- Creating and maintaining case management files and systems, maintaining task lists for supervisors, and monitoring deadlines.

Education and Experience Information:
To be successful in this role, the candidate must possess:
- A Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of experience, or a Paralegal Certificate and 3-5 years of experience; equivalent combinations of education and experience are acceptable.
- Compliance or data privacy certifications are advantageous.
- Experience with employment, data privacy, and/or corporate compliance matters is required.
- Experience with data privacy incident management and document retention procedures is a plus.
- Familiarity with Workday and/or Legal Tracker (Serengeti) is a plus.

The candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and strong judgment. They should be able to read, analyze, and interpret complex legal and business documents and handle confidential information discreetly and effectively. The role requires someone who is extremely organized, can manage a heavy workload, prioritize multiple projects, and work independently while also functioning well in a team environment. Strong computer skills, particularly proficiency with Microsoft Office products, are essential.
